I'll get to it later....
Back in October I got a package from my friend Sandra, She had included some HDT and I fell in love with the colors. Well I was debating upon what I should make from the thread. As luck would have it I kept putting off working with the threads as I just could not figure out WHAT I wanted to make with such lovely threads.. I had to find SOMETHING that suited the thread, when in all reality all I had to do is decide on what to make and the thread really did the trick and brought the pattern to life. Don't you just love those Chicken or the Egg arguements. Still I decided to load a pair of shuttles and just DO the next pattern that I fell in love with. AGAIN Sandra came through, you see she sent me a pattern of the HEARTS DESIRE and I was hooked. I have made 2 of these thus far and will make another here in the next day or so. I am going to give away Tatted Valentines wishes this year! I already know where the first two are going and I have a good idea where I can send a third and a fourth. I am thinking of adding one of the Buttons that H sent me of the lady bug to the heart and see how it accents the piece. We shall see and I will scan one to give you a chance to tell me how you like it. So Please Feel free to let me know which you like better.. with or without the ladybug.

The lady bug is cute, but the heart is gorgeous! I vote for "without."
Your heart is absolutely beautiful! I prefer it without the ladybug... I like seeing the heart itself in all its lacy glory!
Heart's Desire is one of my favorite heart patterns. Workbasket's Daisy heart is another. And Mary Konior's heart - I guess those 3 are my top favs. This thread works up into this heart beautifully! Given the soft pink in the thread - the lady bug tends to clash. The cute little bug would look better on a red heart, IMHO. LOL! Nice touch - just not a good color combo.
The heart is beautiful and the colors wonderful! The colors in the heart without the ladybug look more vibrant than the one with. The ladybug is cute on it, but maybe it detracts from the colors of the thread?
I think you all are correct, The heart looks better without the lady bug button. I am going to removed it. BUT I do have a bright red that I can make into this heart and add it then.
Thank you SO much for your comments, they really are quite right.
Oh, I think the lady bug will look real cute on a red heart!
Your Heart is lovely! I think that Sue Fuller's "Heart's Desire" goes so well with many HDT's! It's beautiful. I think that the lady bug would look much better with a solid color or colors that accent it's own colors. The heart (in what looks like Tatskool's "Apple Blossom") I so beautiful by itself...this is case of "less is more".
I only answered because you asked!!! ;)
Thank you Tatting Chic, I really did want the opinions about it. I think Ill do a red red one and see what I get with the ladybug on it. I think it will go over well really. I timed myself and can accomplish this pattern in about an hour. so I Think I Will be giving away hearts as valentines presents this year.. Truth be told, I do not normally give anything at Valentines so this will be a rarity for me.
You can do this in an hour? I need this pattern!
Hi Mike
The heart is lovely by itself. The colors are so soft and blossom-like. Perhaps the lady bug could go on something with leafy-green or fern-like colors? Who says a heart has to be red!
Mike,
The heart looks so delicate by itself. It reminds me of soft, fragrant blossoms. The ladybug would look nice against something leafy-green or fern-like. Who says a heart has to be red!
I know that you have decided on this issue but I'll chip in anyway and say that I like it without the ladybird on it.
And I want to add that I 'admire' your picots.
Very nice Mike!!! I love doing this heart pattern myself. LOL I have one I need to finish. I had one of those 'oops' rings, I didn't realize until I finished ready to weave in my ends. So I am trying to 'tat surgery' LOL!
You are right, those colors do make a difference,,,but so does your awesome tatting too!!!
